Janice Levine Chairmans Award for Outstanding Volunteerism

Janice-LevineMy sister-in-law, Irene Berman-Levine, knew that in the past few years I’ve worked on several videos for different organizations in Harrisburg. Irene was in charge of the program and had the difficult job of putting together a program that was meaningful and enjoyable at the same time. She asked for my assistance. Whenever I make a video, I learn an incredible amount about the organization and the people involved. While creating the “Build to the Future” video, I was impressed by the dedication, hard work, and accomplishments of the honorees. It was rewarding for me to meet and interview the honorees. Their stories are inspiring. I think it’s important to recognize those in the community who have volunteered their time and skills to the Foundation and I feel I’ve played a part in recognizing the honorees for their efforts. Hopefully by publicizing their participation, others will be motivated to contribute. During the making of the video, I learned a lot about the Jewish Community Foundation efforts to “Build to the Future”. I hope the community was made more aware of those efforts and how easy it is to contribute. The Foundation is trying to ensure the future of the Jewish community in Harrisburg and everyone has something to contribute whatever their means or skills. Most people don’t realize how many hours it takes to plan, film, edit and produce a video and I would like to thank those who acknowledged this “behind the scenes” effort.
