10 Aug 2015 Seeking Full Time Director Community and Donor Relations by admin | posted in: news | 0 Legacy Giving Program Director Jewish Community of Central Pennsylvania – Located in Harrisburg Pennsylvania Job Title: Director, Community and Donor Relations Description: The Jewish Community Foundation of Central PA (JJF) is seeking an individual to fill the full time position of Community and Donor Relations: Legacy Program Director. This position will report to the Executive Director and will be an integral part of the community wide, collaborative legacy bequest development initiative; a plan for the development of increased bequest and other planned gifts for permanent endowments. A selected candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and our participating organizations to implement the collaborative community legacy program in Jewish Central PA. They will coordinate our community wide program and build upon momentum with each consecutive year. Working closely with synagogue and Jewish agency professionals and lay leaders, this candidate will maintain the integrity of the program as a “collaborative model” of bequest development for Jewish Central PA. The successful candidate will work in cooperation with our community professionals, their legacy teams and our community legacy steering committee. They will develop educational workshops and other educational programs for the participating organizations, donors and prospective donors, with the goal being to increase the number of bequest gifts. Background: The Jewish Community Foundation of Central PA provides planned giving and endowment development, management and administration services to the Jewish agencies and synagogues located in a vibrant and active Jewish community that dates back to the 1800’s. Our community has a day school, Jewish Home, 2 regional Jewish Family Services, 2 regional JCCs, a Federation and a number of synagogues in a community with a diverse Jewish population. Offices are located in the capital city of the State of Pennsylvania. Our Jewish Federation, agencies and synagogues offer a variety of programs that enhance our quality of life and help to build a strong and unified Jewish community here that is connected to Israel and the global Jewish community. Jewish Central PA leadership believes that in order to continue to thrive and to be responsive to the desires of donors and the ever growing and changing needs of the community, the Foundation must be proactive as the central bequest and planned gifts for permanent endowments, development and administrative organization in this Jewish community. Foundation’s mission is to help individuals create their personalized Jewish legacy plans. We offer many philanthropic fund options including current Donor Advised Funds, Planned Gifts, Bequest and other estate gifts for permanent endowment funds that will benefit Jewish and other causes and that will ensure the long term financial security and viability of the Jewish community. Responsibilities: Provide overall coordination and support for the Legacy program initiative including but not limited to: – Work closely with the legacy program professionals, the Foundation Executive Director, President, Board and other staff to coordinate all efforts necessary to effectively and successfully implement the community collaborative legacy program. – Guide, encourage, assist, engage and train participating legacy team members – door openers – and other volunteers to facilitate bequest gift conversations. – Work with Foundation Executive Director and other volunteers and support staff to develop appropriate marketing and other related PR materials that include our vision, donor centric/collaborative approach to raise awareness of the program in the larger community. – Work closely with Foundation participating organizations to disseminate marketing/PR materials for newsletters, other publications and for mailing. – Ensure that all are linked to Foundation’s website. – Work with webmaster to ensure that there are relative updates about Foundation’s legacy program and other activities, information of interest to community professionals assisting donors with estate planning, to donors, to partners and that all info is accurate, interesting and timely. – Work with Foundation’s participating organizations to implement the community legacy plan and guide them through each step. – In cooperation with professionals and volunteers plan and facilitate all educational workshop sessions. – Work with professional staff to ensure appropriate materials are distributed at workshops and that other relevant materials are placed in the local Jewish Newspaper and provided for newsletters. – Reporting activities and success on a consistent basis according to requirements and that the community legacy program is on track. – Engage legacy team members including chairs, organizational professionals, and volunteers being trained through the workshop series, in meaningful dialogue to assist them in developing and implementing their internal legacy action plans. – Work closely with each participating organization to assist them in prioritizing and segmenting their donor prospect lists identifying prospects uniquely affiliated with their organizations, and connecting them with natural partners who will assist with opening doors so that they may be asked to leave a bequest to Jewish causes. – Assist Foundation and partner organizations with legacy development efforts. – Design, implement, monitor and review reports to track and deeply analyze results of legacy and general development and other efforts. – Review current reporting systems in place and advise staff on changes needed to ensure effective, appropriate data management systems for tracking success of legacy program and documenting the steps taken. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: – Results driven Jewish professional passionate about the Jewish community – Proven expertise in marketing and development strategies – Experience in a Jewish communal organization is preferred – Relationship building and development experience – Ability to coach, motivate and mentor legacy teams consisting of professional and lay leadership – An energetic self-starter, persistent, relationship builder who enjoys working in a collaborative environment – Experience in a complex organization, with a successful leadership track record in multi-constituency, consensus driven cultures – Passion for strengthening the Jewish community and committed to the concept of legacy giving – Familiarity with non-profit, philanthropically based organizations – Strong personal manager with excellent organizational, people and communication skills; ability to problem solve and set priorities – Excellent computer skills including power point, excel, publisher and database disciplines. – Ability to manage records and utilize Excel spreadsheets. – Familiarity and expertise with social media and web applications – Ability to work well under pressure and to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, producing quality results on time and on budget – Demonstrated ability to work thoughtfully and collegially with staff and lay leaders – Innovative, creative, with a high amount of energy, integrity and confidentiality – Ability to prioritize organizational needs relative to budget and resources – Effective communicator ensuring clear and mutual understanding of information – Experience with and knowledge of planned giving and endowment terminology and vehicles preferred – Experience in the charitable gift planning and endowment field preferred including an understanding of endowment funding options – Charitable gift development experience preferred – Major Gift and/or planned gift development desirable – B.A. degree or equivalent experience preferred To apply for this position submit a cover letter and resume via email to donor_relations@abelpersonnel.com.
